Adding Tags to Events

We just released the ability to add tags to your events in ExhibitDay.

Tagging Events

Tags are keywords or phrases that can be added to your events in order to classify each event. For example, you can tag an event with the name of the division in your organization that the event belongs to. Or, you can tag each event with its corresponding industry or geographical region. In other words, tags can be used as a classification/grouping mechanism for your events — however way you see fit…

Tags can be added to each event from the event view page.

Filtering Your Events by Tag

On the main Events page, you can see all the tags for each event. The new tag filter can be used to filter down the list of events by any number of tags.

Importing Events from a Spreadsheet

We just released the ability to Bulk Upload your events in ExhibitDay.

Bulk Upload From a Spreadsheet

To upload your events from a spreadsheet, click on the Bulk Upload Events link in the drop-down menu of the [Events] tab (in the top menu bar). You’ll be taken to a page where you can download the import spreadsheet template (in .xslx format).

Bulk Import Events

Once you have downloaded the template, open it in Microsoft Excel (or any other spreadsheet application capable of editing .xlsx files). Then, fill in all your events (in accordance with the columns specified in the template). Finally, use the [Upload] button at the bottom of the page to start the import process.

Once the upload is complete, you’ll be taken to the Import Review Screen where you can see the event(s) being imported (and make any necessary data adjustments). To complete the import, click on the [Submit] button at the bottom of the Import Review Screen.

Note: the Bulk Upload Process is limited to 100 events per upload. So, if you would like to import more than 100 events, you should break them down into batches of 100 events per spreadsheet and upload each batch separately.

Following Storage Locations to get Notified about Asset Reservations

We just released the ability to Follow your Storage Locations in ExhibitDay (in order to get notified about Asset Reservations).

Following a Storage Location

To follow a Storage Location, click the Storage Locations link in the drop-down menu next to the [Manage Assets] tab. Then, click the Follow link next to the Storage Location(s) you would like to follow.

Follow Storage Location(s) to get notified about asset reservations.

Every time an Asset Reservation is made (or updated) from Storage Location(s) that you following, you’ll receive an email about the reservation.

Asset Reservation Notification Settings

By default, when you follow a Storage Location, you will get notifications about all asset reservations and updates from that location — upcoming and past reservations. If you don’t wish to get notifications about past reservations (e.g. when a reservation from a past event gets deleted), and only prefer to get notified about upcoming/future reservations, you can change your Asset Management notification settings under My Profile & Preferences > Email Notifications > Asset Management Notification Emails.

Event Layout Settings

We just released the ability to customize the layout for your events by hiding the tabs that are not needed for each event.

The layout settings for an event can be changed using the [Event Layout Settings] tab (under the extended menu of the event page tab strip)

For example, for virtual events, you may want to hide the Booth, Travel, Assets, and Shipments tabs.

Event Layout Settings

The changes you make to Layout Settings of an event are applied to that event only; they will not affect other events in your Workspace.

The tabs that you hide for an event will be hidden for all users in your Workspace (not just for you).

Pro-tip: When you copy/duplicate an event, the Layout Settings for the event will also get copied over to the new event. So, for future events that require a similar layout, you can simply make a copy of an event with the desired layout.

Note: This feature is only available to ExhibitDay Workspaces that are subscribed to the Premium plan. Customizations to event fields (for all events), can be made under Workspace Settings. For more information about Custom Event Fields, please see this blog post.

Planning Virtual Events

While some trade shows are postponed or canceled indefinitely in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, others are going digital. With the ubiquity of the Internet and availability of online connectivity tools, Virtual Events have quickly become the Event Industry’s primary response to the pandemic.
